« Lou, in the wave » – The documentary on surfing and disability, produced by Herblot Productions.

Our first film documentary

Herblot Productions is a young independent audiovisual production company based in Bordeaux.
After less than two years of existence, we build an ambitious project: our first film docu.

This film – Lou, in the wave –, written and directed by Etienne Herblot, is a documentary on disability and surfing embodied by Lou Méchiche.
The objective? Create a 26-minute film to present it in festivals. But also to make it live in clubs and cinemas, then on YouTube so that it is accessible to all, from anywhere, anytime.

We think this project is a documentary useful and committed.
A film to highlight the resilience, Courage andoptimism.
A work to speak freely about disability and its impact on life and entourage.
This film will carry you in the waves thanks to surfing, but it will go on many other terrains.

For this, we will film and follow Lou, 19, visually impaired, and triple world champion of the parasurfing.
A nugget Bordeaux inspiring, funny and resourceful. Just that.

Besides, if you want follow the project step by step, we show you all on YouTube Every Sunday.

Why this movie?

This film is born of a desire: that of Standardize disability, which we see every day, in all its forms.
Disability is not a separate matter. It affects everyone, from near or far. There is no "handisport", there is only sport practiced by many different people, with each their personal journey.

To show it, we wanted to follow Lou as close to his feelings, his freedom, his choices. No miserabilism, no artificial heroes.
Lou doesn't need to be an icon, she's just deep alive, sports, resilientfunny, lucid and young.
Through a shooting immersive and sensoryWe want to make her inner universe feel: what she hears, what she guesses, what she invents.
But also his entourage, his training, his pleasures, his challenges.
We believe that this portrait is also a mirror: it questions our own perception, our way of seeing the world, others, and ourselves.

This documentary is a Act of Regard on a young active, on the power of the will, on the permanent redefinition of normality, failure, success, fear, joy and sadness.
More generally, it will allow talking about disability without taboo – especially visual – from the practice of sport, from the announcement of a disability to its impact on everyday life, as well as to highlight caregivers and people affected by a disability from close or far.
