I'm filming a rugby game live for Rugbyrama

On Sundays, I play rugby... on Saturday night, I film it live for rugbyrama Live!
In this video, and this article, I'm taking you with me in a field-side camera. Find out how I'm filming a National 1 rugby game live for Rugbyrama Live.

Herblot Productions, at the heart of the melee

Since the beginning of Herblot Productions – an audiovisual production company in Bordeaux – rugby has been at the heart of our development.
As a player and rugby enthusiast, I guided Herblot Productions to the club in Langon (33) for a TV show shot in 2024.

That year, the Langon club was to win the title of French champion in National 2 and climb to National 1. A feat as great as the previous season, they had won the title of French champion in Federal 1 to climb National 2. A first in French rugby. A hell of a double.

Result?
A film with this great Gironde club for an Irish TV show on RTEone and Amazon Prime and this video which sums up the first game I filmed.

Then, the adventure continued when I filmed – in camera on board still ground – the National 2 final in Tours, between Rennes and Niort, in May 2025.

Filming rugby, the alliance of passions

It's always a pleasure – and a chance – to combine my two passions: rugby and filming!

These are the passions that led me to a master's degree in journalism.Institute of All Media Journalism (IJTM), then to launch my Herblot Productions production company on returning to France two years ago.

The advantage of filming what we know and what we love is that we do it well.
Knowing the game, the needs and the moments to value, I have a real camera expertise at the edge of a field. And that's where it's important to specialize as a videographer or photographer. But this will be discussed in a future article!

Besides that, the excitement of the live is one element that makes these games a special moment. We find ourselves at the heart of the game, between coaches, referees, benches, players, spectators... And we point the camera at what's going on, what's enriching the images taken from the main cameras in the stadium.

French rugby attracts and develops

In addition to all this, it is great to see that French rugby continues its development and attracts more and more curious people. There are always more and more spectators. This can be seen with TV audiences but also in stadiums with record influxes in many French and European cities. Rugby exports, interests and envy. It transmits essential values in addition to being a spectacular sport.

The Top14 is probably the best championship in the world. Yes, yes, just that!
Pro D2 exports even abroad and would « one of the most intense and moving championships ever seen »According to former English journalist Tim Cocker who bought the rights to broadcast the competition in the UK and Ireland.
The Nationale is increasingly visible and appreciated thanks to the work of clubs, bodies and media like Rugbyrama with Impakkt or Mag Sport.

Anyway, it's a pleasure!
Long live the rugby, live the sport... and the next games to film!
